Weekly Pregnancy Humor: Week 6

There is a group of women out there that think they didn’t get morning sickness because they wouldn’t allow themselves to. Like, they think throwing up all day, every day is a state of mind.

“Oh, I just wouldn’t allow myself to throw up,” she says while rubbing her nonexistent belly. “So I didn’t.”

Any pregnant woman that comes across these types of women should turn the other way and run as fast as she can (which might just be lumbering gently away). Why? This woman has the “Miracle of Life Syndrome.”

Every little gas pain and tummy rumble is special. They feel like they’re “glowing” and just love every last bit of pregnancy, right down to the hemorrhoids.

You do not want to be friends with these women. They will brag about “easy” labors. Their babies will sleep through the night by the end of the first week.

Worst of all? She’ll be fitting into her “skinny jeans” by her six week postpartum checkup. Never trust a woman that can fit into her skinny jeans that quickly.

Find yourself someone with hyperemesis. She won’t ask if you “tried crackers.” She’ll be truthful about labor and will be your friend in sweatpants for that first year after the baby.Never underestimate the value of a friendship where you can go grocery shopping together in your pajamas.

BOB

Baby on Board!!

I am not sure how I feel about being pregnant, but I am sure once things starts coming together things will be okay. Riley and I have started talking about things and working together for our kid. Last night we had a great conversation. I really think things will be okay. I have been thinking about baby names just a little bit for a few days. He wants the name to have a hispanic theme I guess. IDK. We came up with two names, but they will probably changed. The twins' names changed like 5 times. If we are having a girl we like the name Fallon Taylor Olivia. If it is a boy we like River Noah Conley. BUT I am also liking Naima Taylor and Jackson Ray..

oh well...we have plenty of time

Memorial Day & A Birthday

Happy Memorial day!! Tomorrow the kids and I are going to my hometown to honor the memory of Sgt. Joshua Brennan. I myself have never had the chance to meet Josh, but he was a part of the community I grew up in.

Sgt. Brennan was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 503rd Airborne Infantry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team, Vicenza, Italy; died Oct. 26, 2007 in Asadabad, Afghanistan, of wounds sustained Oct. 25 at Korengal Valley, when he came in contact with enemy forces using rocket-propelled grenade, machine-gun and small-arms fire during combat operations. Army Sgt. Josh Brennan, 22, was shot in the chest on patrol in Kunar province, his father, Michael Brennan, of McFarland, Wis., told The Associated Press. He was a member of the 173rd Airborne Brigade. Taliban fighters tried to drag the soldier’s body off, but a medic hurled six hand grenades at them before he himself was killed, Michael Brennan said. He said the military notified him of his son’s death Oct. 26. He said his son told him his unit had seen combat almost every day over the last two months. Josh was shot in the leg in August, recovered, and returned to duty, his father said. His enlistment was to have ended last month but he had to serve another year under the Army’s stop-loss doctrine, Michael Brennan said. Josh grew up primarily with his mother in Oregon and graduated from Ontario High School, his father said. He spent the summers with his father in Wisconsin. Michael Brennan said he and his son’s mother both served with the military police in the Army. In school Josh ran track, played football and won a good citizenship award, Michael Brennan said. His father said he asked Josh it he wanted him to try to get congressional intervention to get him out of the extra year. “He said, ‘No, Dad, I don’t want you do any of that. I’ll serve my time with my friends.’ ” He said his son won two Bronze Stars for valor. I’m very proud. I didn’t want him to have to give his life up like this,” Michael Brennan said, his voice quivering. Ontario soldier remembered as dedicated, dependable young man The Associated Press ONTARIO, Ore. — Army Sgt. Joshua Brennan asked his mother last month to mail him a sturdy Bible because he was developing a strong relationship with God. Brennan and his mother, Janice Gates of Ontario, communicated through Gates’ MySpace page. After Brennan’s platoon sergeant died in Afghanistan several weeks ago, she posted the song “Heaven Was Needing a Hero” to comfort her son. “Never in my wildest dreams did I know heaven was needing him, too,” Gates said a day after learning her son died in combat. Brennan, 22, died Oct. 26 from wounds he had suffered the day before in a firefight, according to the Department of Defense. He was serving his second tour in Afghanistan with the 2nd Battalion, 503rd Airborne Infantry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Combat Team. His father, Michael Brennan of McFarland, Wis., told The Associated Press that after Taliban fighters shot his son in the chest, they tried to drag the wounded soldier away, but a medic threw grenades at them before he himself was killed. “If it weren’t for that medic, horrific things could have happened to Joshua,” Gates said in an interview with The Oregonian newspaper. Gates said her son’s enlistment was supposed to end in September, but a stop-loss order extended it a year. “Josh struggled with that for a little while. He certainly wasn’t resentful of it,” Gates said. “He truly felt that what brought him to Afghanistan was a worthwhile and just cause, that they needed to be there to preserve independence and freedom in the United States and worldwide.” Brennan, a Purple Heart and Bronze Star recipient, was wounded in the leg in early August. “Within days of being shot, he was insistent he wanted to be back out with his men,” Gates said. “He wanted to make sure they were OK.” A 2003 graduate of Ontario High School, Brennan ran the hurdles, played football and hunted elk with his grandfather, uncle and stepfather, Jared Cutler. After the military, Brennan intended to attend college and pursue a career in forensic science or criminology, Gates said. Brennan returned home on leave in May, and friends and family threw a party and “lavished him with love,” his mother said. “When I was raising Josh, I wasn’t financially able to do things like pay for his car insurance, pay for a vehicle, pay for a cell phone, these extra amenities kids get these days,” Gates said. Brennan worked a part-time job at a print shop and paid for his own extras while maintaining above-average grades. “He was just such a responsible young man,” she said. “I know he would have done absolutely amazing things in his life.” Army Sgt. Joshua C. Brennan was killed in action on 10/25/07.

I remember the day Josh's body was brought back to McFarland, for his funeral. Illinois police guided him from O'Hare Airport in Chicago to Wisconsin State line, where WIsconsin police then took over. Jason and myself along with hundreds of other people lined the streets leading from the entrance in to McFarland to the cemetary. Every school, daycare center and buisness, closed for a while. Students lined up. It was so amazing to see a community pull together.
McFarland also suffered the loss of another fallen soldier, My friend Scott's sister. Rachel Hugo was killed.

Rachel Hugo, of Madison, was killed Friday in Bayji, Iraq, when insurgents attacked her unit using an improvised explosive device and small arms fire, the Department of Defense announced Saturday. She was a member of the 89th Military Police Brigade of the U.S. Army Reserve and the 79th soldier from Wisconsin killed in Iraq since the war began in 2003.

Riley :]

I started seeing this guy Riley again. We "dated" several months back. Things are different this time around. I guess it is maybe because I might have matured over the last few months, if not matured at least go smarter lol. I really really like him.

Yesterday was so funn too! We went out to lunch and then out for ice cream. We were going to go to his place after but, we couldnt get there because they are looking for a guy who shot is ex wife to death on Saturday. They had found his truck at a park near where he grew up. So bomb squad, SWAT team and a billioooon cops were there and had cut off a lot of the streets. So we ended up going back to my house and watched Knocked up. He left around 11:30pm.

I miss him :[ and he isnt answering my txts....wish he would go on break already!!!!!

Zoo time!!

We went to the ZOOOO!!! and no Sara they did not keep me..sucks right?..I took about 10 pictures, because my stupid camera batteries died. Looking threw my pics I could start telling when the batteries started going. These were the only ones I could salvage..which sucks becuase I had several other ones I wanted..I didnt even get any of the kids :[......but that is okay, I am sure we will be making plenty other trips to the zoo. I love going to the zoo, it has changed so much over the years, they added a HUGE carousel, they made it indoors so you can ride it all year long! Our zoo is open nearly every day of the year! how awesome! This past New Years I took my little brother to the zoo. It was so fun! They got rid of the monkeys a few years ago. It really sucks! it was a huge circular cage and it had lots of toys and swings for them to play on. They still have the indoor monkeys though..which is cool. They added a bird house..you wlak threw and first there are bugs and shit..gross..then there are fish,,then you open this door and it turns in to the hot and muggy rainforest. birds fly freely around and if you look down there are turtles and frogs and stuff! how neat! they also added a new part of the zoo where there are like prairie animals. there are Prairie Dogs, Badgers (scarier and uglier than bucky!). We had a ton of fun! except when we went into the reptile house. It is split into two sections, the first has fish and bugs and bats and some fun activities for the kids. then the second part has gators, giant snakes and wittle snakes, frogs, and turtles. In one little glass cage there was about 5 snakes in there..so I was helping Wyaett count them. A lady and her son were next to us, and all of a sudden a snake that had crawled up the side FELL right infront of us!!!!!!!!! the lady and I screamed! while the boys laughed!.. I was ready to PUKE!! before we went into the Reptile house, we had gone and looked at the lions. You can see the lions from 3 different parts of his huge cage. We were looking at them from the glass section so we can be shielded from the sun. Well Melissa noticed that her nose ring felt a little funky. So when no one was looking she reached up and went to pull the booger off her nose stud(God I cant believe I am sharing this) and to her surprise her little nephew said REALLY REALLY LOUDLY "Aunt melissa, picking your nose is disgusting!" several people looked at me. I wanted to die right there!..ughh..needless to say I was embarrassed. sigh...

RIP Andrea

Friday I learned that there was a serious car accident in my hometown. All that was said was that one young woman had died and two others had been taken to the hospital with serious injuries and two more people, who were involved are doing fine. Growing up in McFarland, means that I know many people there, my stomach was in knots. When I woke up this morning, I checked AOL and read an email from my cousin, who is a senior at McFarland High school. She told me that the young woman was Andrea Garcia. I knew Andrea from mutual friends. So we of course had met and hung out a few times..She was so funny, smart and just a great person to be around. I saw her a few months ago and she just gushed over the twins. I really wish we would have been able to become closer friends, but I at least got the chance to meet her.

The Weird shit that amazes me!!!

Okay, so most people who know me, know that I get distracted easily! and people know the weird things that get me excited. That is like one (and probably the only) good thing I like about myself. I can make myself laugh INSANELY!

Like have you seen the new soda machines where the bar goes up the soda slides into the bar then the bar lowers and tilts the soda down into the slot?? I mean come on! how cool is that?! I love using those.

OH! and those pens where there are like many different colors in it and you push the buttons and the ink changes! those are pretty neat too.

but today I got to see one of the coolest things ever (aside from me cuz I am as cool as ice)

a RUBBERBAND BALL!!!!!!!!! I am soo very Jealous!

Letter to me

Melissa,
I know times are hard. A lot is going on. You have lost yourself in everything that has gone on in the last few years. One day, everything will work out and be okay, you just wait and see. You have two beautiful kids and caring for two others. You may think that you have so many issues, but it started from when you were little and your dad hurt you the way he did, then because of that you ran to a guy who was SOO much older than you, the relationship went bad...the cutting, drugs, eating disorder just kinda happened. None of it is your fault. You were young and now you are 19, just trying to deal with it all and to make sense of it. You will get through it all, because you know what, you have two kids who you would do anything for and they are your reason for living. You also have people who will be there when ever you need to talk. I know, I know, opening up isnt your cup of tea, but you have done it before, and it has turned out to help. I promise, things will get better. It has to. Just be paticent, relax and just work through it one step at a time. Do one thing at a time. Smoking and cutting are pretty much nearly out of your life. Drugs, are over and done with. The eating thing, keep an eye on that, it is so easy fall back into old patterns easily. So far you haven't had to worry about it.

You are wonderful, Amazing, smart, pretty, funny and caring...dont forget any of that!!!!

Word Vomit

I tend to do this...word vomit is what I call it. Pretty much it is when I say something that I really don't want to say. If I don't say it, it will bother me...sooooooo

Well, okay......I havent been able to sleep for 3 nights, and been having bad days..they get bad to the point I can't work, focus, breathe and I start crying....hmmm....

Sometimes, when I smell a certain smell, remember something, see something, all of a sudden I get like feeling of re-living an incident. I get stuck, like a dark cloud is surrounding my body and all I can see is that memory...it use to happen sooo much, then stopped and now is starting up again.

I have been working out soo much. I love to go running. When I run I forget everything, stress and hardcore thinking, just melt away...Normally I try to run an hour a day...lately, I am at about 3 hours a day ...last night I ran/walked 4 hours...as soon as teh kids were alseep, I got on and just went for it...I ahve been trying to make my nights go by faster, so teh night Goblins leave me alone...

I have started to have nightmares again (so childish right?) I am 19, mothering 4, I am suppose to be the one the kids come to when the night Goblins get them.

Hopfully this goes away soon...I know it will LOL

ahhhhhhh

A lot has been going on lately. I started working at the clinic to finish up getting everything that is required to take the damn exam!!! I really really like it, even though I am not use to the long hours. I am hoping to do a good enough job to be able to stay working here. I have met some great people, who have been helping me. I would be working in the Urgent Care part of the Clinic, stocking shelves, helping with patients, taking vitals, and medication.

There is so much I am looking forward to. Sometime this summer I want to go to Florida to see Laura and Taylor. July I get to see Heather and Sara!!! I bought each of the kids a new outfit to wear!! It is sooo hard to believe that they will be 8 months in July!! that means only 4 months until they will be 1..and 6 days later Paeten will be 2...

Hmmmmm..there was more but I cant remember!!! oh, I lost 7 pounds this week!! how awesome!! and I have pretty much quit smoking!! I between 0-1 cigs a day...well yesterday not so much but whatev haha

Secrets, Road trip and PMS

I had such a great weekend. Saturday morning I decided to go for a hour and a half drive to Cuba City and Lancaster, to go to a few craft stores and some kids clothing stores. I spent wayyyyy more then I had planned. Each kid got new clothes, shoes and toys. They weren't the only lucky ones!! I got a new pair of running shoes!! and of course I got a few things from the craft stores.

As we were going home, I realized that I was about 30 mintues from Galena, IL. I had gone there many times growing up. I thought it would be fun to go. We walked around and did some shopping, eating and just had a lot of fun. It was pretty busy, but I didnt mind! I found this one store called poopsies (www.poopsies.com) they have so much fun stuff! I had a blast in that store lol! The most odd thing is I didnt have one cigarette! amazing isnt it. I mean I got a craving for one, but I was too interested in the stores to stop and have one. I am starting to wonder if my reason for smoking so much, is that I am bored and am not doing anything. All the kids are on a schedule. I am thinking about making one for me. So that I stay unbored lol...I cant say that I would stick to it, but just having it would be nice.

And of course all good things must come to an end..I got my period. LOL. Now am sure you are like "WHY ARE YOU TELLING ME THIS?"..Well I am telling you this because, it has been like IDK a year since I have had it! I gotta tell ya, I didnt miss it ONE BIT!!! ugh, the cramps, bloating, headache, not fun!!!! I was loving not having to worry about mother nature bringing me my monthly gift...Sigh....
